About OCHA DAYS

OCHA DAYS is an iPhone app (iOS 17 or later) for logging the tea you drink (Japanese, Chinese, and Taiwanese tea) and getting to know the flavors you like. Log a cup with a photo, origin, oxidation, rating, and note, and your taste values for astringency, aroma, bitterness, and umami change to match your entries. There is also a 6-question Ocha Profile quiz, a 27-region Ocha Passport, and tea articles and quizzes. No account needed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I transfer my entries to a new iPhone?

Your entries and photos are stored only on your iPhone. They are not synced via iCloud.

Before changing devices, export your entries in JSON format from the App’s Settings and keep the file. There is currently no way to import an exported file back into the App (it is for keeping as a copy).

If you move to a new iPhone from a backup of your iPhone (an iCloud backup or a backup to a computer), the App’s data usually moves with it. To be safe, we recommend exporting your entries before changing devices.

I made a purchase, but I don’t have Premium

Open the App’s Settings (the gear at the top right of Home) and tap “Restore Purchases” in the Premium section. You must be signed in with the same Apple ID you used for the purchase. If that doesn’t restore it, please contact us at the email address below.

I want to cancel

You can cancel in iPhone Settings > your name at the top > Subscriptions > OCHA DAYS > Cancel Subscription. Deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.

The plans do not include a free trial period. Charges begin when you subscribe. Your entries saved on your device remain after you cancel.

About the first 7 days

For 7 days from the day you first use the App, all features are open without signing up. There is no charge, and it does not switch to a paid plan automatically (ads are still shown during this period). After 7 days, detailed logging, Tea Break sounds, monthly reports, and Passport collections will not open until you subscribe. You can keep logging cups for free. Your entries and photos are not deleted, and you can still read them. Articles, quizzes, and the reading material on origins and drinks also remain readable. If you subscribe, you can continue right where you left off. Even after 7 days, you can still export your entries and restore purchases.

I want to remove ads

With OCHA DAYS Premium, ads are no longer shown. Prices for the monthly and yearly plans are shown in the App Store. Ads appear only at the bottom of the Learn, Explore, and Journal screens. They do not appear on the logging screens.

I’m concerned that ads are tailored to me

In iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, turn off permission for OCHA DAYS. When it is off, you will see non-personalized ads. You can keep using all of the App’s features.

In the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, you can also change your ad consent at any time in the App’s Settings under “Ad privacy settings”.

I want to delete all my data

You can delete all data from “Delete All Data” in the App’s Settings. Deleted entries and photos cannot be recovered. If you want to keep them, export them as JSON first.

Do articles cost money?

All articles are free to read. With Premium, ads are removed; you can add brewing method, shop, tea type, cultivar, and 15 flavor tags to your entries; and you get tea type, cultivar, and brewing collections in your Passport, monthly reports, and forest, campfire, and wave sounds in Tea Break.

Are the origin descriptions and quiz results accurate?

Articles, origin descriptions, the quiz, and suggestions are provided as general guides. Even from the same origin, the taste changes with the leaves, the cultivar, and how you brew. If you notice an error, please contact us and tell us which screen and which part.
